If you’re searching for corporate headshots in Brisbane, the question isn’t who owns a camera. It’s whether your whole team still matches twelve months from now.
At Hero Shot we photograph finance, legal, real estate, construction, IT and consulting teams. The shoots that hold up are planned like an operational task, not squeezed into a lunch break.

The quick verdict: what a Brisbane corporate shoot should deliver
Before you compare studios, check that the quote covers these:
- One consistent lighting and background setup across every person, including anyone photographed later
- A briefing on clothing, hair and grooming sent to staff before the day
- A rolling schedule so nobody loses half a morning waiting
- Natural retouching that keeps skin texture, not plastic skin
- Files sized for LinkedIn, your website, tender documents and email signatures
- A written way to add new starters in the same style
- Clear usage rights so your marketing team isn’t asking permission later
If a quote skips the last two, you’ll be paying again within a year.

Studio in Brisbane or your own office
Choose the studio when
Studio sessions suit individuals, small leadership groups and anyone wanting full control of light and background. Nothing in the room is negotiable, so consistency is easy.
Studio also suits staggered bookings. New starters come in one at a time and still match the set shot months earlier.
Choose on-site when
For teams of ten or more, on-site is usually better. A portable studio goes into a boardroom or a quiet corner. Staff walk in, sit down and walk out.
The deciding factor is billable time, not aesthetics. A firm rostering forty people out to a studio loses more hours than it saves.

What a real on-site day looks like
Earlier this year we photographed a professional services firm across two floors on Eagle Street. Forty-one people, one boardroom, wrapped at 11:40am.
Their office manager did the thing that makes these days work: she sent individual five-minute calendar invites rather than a sign-up sheet. The upper floor still ran ten minutes late because a client call overran, so those four people were slotted into the reserve blocks held at the finish.
What Brisbane teams actually book
Finance, legal and professional services
These are our most demanding briefs. Partners need photos that hold up beside a fee proposal, so retouching stays conservative and skin tone stays true.
For a North Quay firm last year, the deciding detail was their own website: bios crop to a square thumbnail. We framed every partner and associate with extra headroom so the crop lands under the chin and not through it.
We also shoot two expressions for every lawyer and accountant. One warm enough for LinkedIn, one composed enough for a tender submission.
Real estate and construction
Agents need volume and a look that survives a signboard, a flyer and a portal thumbnail. For a Bulimba agency we shot the whole sales team on a Wednesday morning and framed wider than a standard headshot, because their signboard template needs half-body and their portal listing needs a tight crop from the same frame.
Construction teams often want workwear, or a hybrid of workwear and business attire. For site-based crews, book early. Inductions finish before the day gets hot, and nobody wants to leave a pour at 2pm.
IT, consulting and internal comms
Distributed teams are the hard case. When part of your business sits in Brisbane and part in Sydney or Melbourne, the setup has to be repeatable.
Ours is: a 150cm octabox about 1.2 metres from the subject at head height, a strip light feathered in from behind on the shadow side, and a mid-grey backdrop kept 2 metres back.
The 2 metres is the part most setups get wrong. Push the backdrop closer and your key light spills onto it, so the grey shifts brighter on one side and every person shot near the wall reads warmer than the rest of the team. At 2 metres the backdrop is lit separately and stays the same grey all day, which is the only reason the last person photographed matches the first.
The feathered strip solves a Brisbane problem specifically. Dark suits disappear into mid-grey, so you need separation, but a hard rim light on humidity-damp skin turns shoulders and jawlines shiny. Feathering the edge of the strip past the subject gives the outline without the gloss.
Same numbers here, and the same rig we run in our Sydney sessions at Petersham and our Melbourne sessions at Ivanhoe. That is why your About page looks like one company instead of six shoots.
What drives the cost
There’s no single figure. Any studio quoting one before asking questions is guessing. What actually moves the price:
- Number of people, and whether they’re all available on one day
- Session length per person, and how many looks or outfit changes
- Number of fully edited images each person receives
- Studio or on-location, including travel and setup time within Brisbane
- Whether you need hair and makeup, group shots or environmental portraits alongside headshots
Team shoots almost always bring the per-person figure down, because setup is the fixed cost. Send your headcount and location through our contact page for a proper quote.
Worth reading before you compare quotes: the hidden tax of cheap headshots. Budget shoots rarely fail on the day. They fail when you try to match them six months later.
Should you smile?

Yes, if it’s genuine. A forced smile reads as nerves. A blank face reads as cold, especially in client-facing roles.
Direction beats performance. Small prompts, small adjustments. Most people settle a minute or two in, and that’s where the usable frames start.

Brisbane logistics worth planning for
Humidity is the practical one. From November through to March, people arrive from the car park with hair moving and a shine across the forehead.
So the Brisbane kit carries blotting papers, a small comb and a clean towel, and every booking sheet in those months has a two-minute settle built in. In an air-conditioned boardroom that’s usually all it takes.
The lesson came from a December session in Newstead that was booked for a rooftop at 3pm. A storm cell came over the river and the shoot moved indoors with twenty minutes’ notice. Outdoor bookings now sit before 10am from November to February, with an indoor fallback named in the confirmation email.
A room with a door that closes also helps. Open-plan shoots make people self-conscious, and self-conscious shows in the eyes.
Common mistakes we see
- Booking with no clothing brief, so half the team arrives in patterned shirts that vibrate on camera
- Rostering everyone in the same fifteen minutes, then blaming the queue on the photographer
- Locking in a summer afternoon outdoor slot, when Brisbane storms build after 2pm and glare bounces hard off the glass towers along the river
- Letting each person retouch their own file afterwards, which destroys consistency
- Photographing the leadership team properly and the rest of the client-facing business on a phone
- Forgetting new starters, then adding mismatched photos to the team page
Private and southside sessions

Some clients want a private session with no audience. Executives changing roles, or partners updating firm bios. Those bookings stay closed, and only you see the gallery.
For teams south of the river, on-site is usually simpler than travelling into the CBD. If you’d rather come to us, our Brisbane corporate headshots page covers current session options.
When you don’t need us
If you’re a sole trader whose clients never see a photo, skip it. Same if you already have a recent, well-lit set that matches across the team.
And a phone photo is genuinely fine for some uses. If the image only ever appears on an internal Teams profile or a staff directory behind your login, a plain wall and good window light will do the job. Book a photographer when the photo is doing commercial work: bios, tenders, portals, LinkedIn.

Frequently asked questions
Are corporate headshots worth it?
For client-facing teams, yes. On tenders and firm bios, your photo arrives before you do. The stronger argument is consistency: a matched set reads as a business with systems, while one-off photos of varying quality read as the opposite. If nobody outside your company sees your photo, skip it.
How much does it cost to have professional headshots done in Brisbane?
Four things move the number: headcount, minutes per person, how many finished images each person keeps, and whether the shoot runs in studio or at your office. Hair and makeup, group shots and outfit changes add time. Per-person cost drops sharply with team size, because setup is fixed.
How long does each person need on the day?
Five to eight minutes covers a standard corporate set. That is roughly two minutes to settle, then enough frames for a warm expression and a composed one. Executives, anyone wanting two outfits, and people who genuinely dislike being photographed should be booked at the longer end or given a slot of their own.
Should I smile in a corporate headshot?
Usually yes, but a genuine one. Both get shot on the day: a warm, open expression for LinkedIn and bios, and a calmer one for tenders and legal profiles. Choosing per use beats locking your whole team into a single look for every channel.
Can you photograph our whole team on one day?
Yes. Rolling schedules ordered by floor or department keep movement short and desks covered. On the Eagle Street day above, forty-one people came through one boardroom and finished before lunch, including the four who ran late.
